The Most Qualified Candidate
My name is Brett Ligon and I am running for Montgomery County District Attorney. I believe I possess the background, qualifications and experience we need to meet the needs of Montgomery County's growing community, and the demands of its changing public safety environment.
There are many changes that need to be made in the District Attorney's Office to meet the challenges of our growing population. It is time for Montgomery County to have a District Attorney's Office staffed with full-time, professional prosecutors who are willing and equipped to vigorously prosecute violations of the law, and adequately address the complaints of our citizens.
Montgomery County currently has the worst rate of case disposition of comparable-sized counties in the entire state. Too often, legitimate charges have been declined, and important prosecutions delayed. Montgomery County ranks near the top in the state in alcohol-related fatalities, and important law enforcement tools like asset forfeiture from criminals who break the law are being under-utilized. It's time for a change.
As a Montgomery County native, I care deeply about the issues facing our community and our citizens. As a father and husband, I also care deeply about the safety of our families.
